Handwoven Double Ikat Checked Napkin Set in White

Handwoven Double Ikat Checked Napkin Set in White

Traditional ikat fabrics employ a highly complex hand dyeing technique that requires the artisan to map out the entire design of a fabric on loose threads before they are placed on the loom. During the dyeing process, the threads are tightly wrapped in areas where they do not want the dye to penetrate. Double ikat is rare as it requires both the warp fibers-- lengthwise yarns on the loom -- and weft fibers -- yarns that are woven over and under the warp -- to be dyed in this fashion prior to stringing on the loom where the yarn is hand woven.

Our double ikat napkins use this ancient and rare technique but present a modern, graphic pattern available in white or black, which are sure to be a stunning addition to your table.
